The Perfect Golf Swing - Have You Found Yours?

Many people have tried to find their perfect golf swing and in doing so, have
completely ruined their game. Many golf instructors will agree that the perfect
swing is a myth.

Look at all the different swings on the PGA and LPGA tour each weekend. Each
swing may look different, but they all have common elements. First you start
with the basics: grip, aim and setup. The most important thing is that you repeat
your swing every time. Even players on the tour who have funny looking swings
are successful because their swings are repeated each time from constant practice,
which gives them confidence in their swing. The golf swing can be simple, but
it's often complicated due to too much thinking.

A Good Swing Starts With a Good Rhythm

Keep in mind that you can't make a good forward swing, unless you take your
time to set up your proper rhythm and motion. The object of a good golf swing
is creating speed on the downswing and NOT the backswing. Too much speed on
the backswing is going to create a bad motion and will be nearly impossible
to repeat.

When trying to achieve your perfect golf swing, first work on your backswing,
which starts with your arms, not your hands. This is done in a one-piece motion.
If you're a right-handed golfer, your left arm should remain straight in the
backswing. Same goes for left-handed hitters keeping their right arm straight.

Once you've perfected your backswing to your liking, it's time to work on your
downswing. With your downswing, you want to return the club head to the ball
with maximum controlled speed, while keeping your eye on the ball the entire
time. Remeber, too fast of a backswing is no good, and too hard of a downswing
will result in bad golf shots.

Now you need to perfect your finish. Keep in mind that the face of your club
should stay square for several inches after your impact with the ball, to create
proper flight. Many beginners find it easier to finish their swing low, which
results in a poor shot, with very little power. Finishes should be high and
smooth.

The perfect golf swing may be a myth, but with time and practice, you will
have a swing that is perfect for you!
